How Web420.com Was Made...
I designed the html, css, and php using Dreamweaver 8. There are PHP scripts installed to create the bulletin board, chat room, and guestbook.
I made some of the wallpaper with photoshop 5.5 and some with CS2. I made thumbnails of those images with Easy Thumbnails 2.93. I uploaded everything to my server using LeapFTP 2.7.6.

The main web420.com images on the top left of the main page, all the wallpapers pages, and right above this text, changes automatically when you go to another section or hit refresh. This is done by using javascript that randomly picks between 9 differerent images which I set. I added it to this page so that you could try it out by refeshing the page, you will notice that 8 out of 9 times it will switch to a new image. If you want to use this script on your page you can easily find it in the source for this page.
The early psychedelic fractals were made by using fractals 97 to generate the images, and later fractals were made using Fractals eXtreme 1.902. I then altered the images in photoship using plugins to adjusts the color levels, color effects, add bubbles, and lightening to the photos. I altered the lighting and magnification effects of the bubbles, and colors of the bubbles. I also added the Web420.com text to the photos.
To create the nature wallpaper I went out and took photos with a Sony 7.2 Megapixel DSC-W7 camera. Most of the photos on the page were taken in Bidwell Park, in Chico CA. The only ones that weren't from Chico were the last 5 photos in the Nature wallpaper section, those photos were taken in Humboldt County, CA. I edited all the photos with photoshop to add the web420.com text to the images. I then used Easy Thumbnails to create thumbnails for the images. I made a thumbnail page with Dreamweaver, then uploaded everything using Leapftp.
To make the psychedelic nature wallpaper I used photos I took at bidwell park (Except the first image from Humboldt: psychedelic fungus growing on a tree.jpg) and altered the colors. I was experimenting on how different colors alter the emotional impact of the images, that is why there are a lot of the same pictures in different colors, an example is the same 6 tree photos in different colors (My favorite tree). Psychedelic fractal dots.jpg was a Photoshop experiment on what happens when I draw certain types of things and then alter the color effects. Blue grass.jpg, and crazy grass.jpg were made testing out a new photoshop filter, and seeing what I could make it do.
The Jam Radio was setup so that people could listen to music while looking at the psychedelic, and nature photos. I thought it would increase the amount of time visitors spend on the site, and it has.
- This image from the main page was taken from a royalty free image site on the internet. I don't remember which one, but there are plenty of them. I altered it with photoship to have a black background and changed the colors of it so it matched my site. Before I altered it, the icon was blue and red.
The ads on my site are from google adsense. You can signup for an account free, and you will be able to make money if you have a lot of visitors.
